Government to House Families Displaced by Police Barracks Fire – Muntaka

During a visit to the scene in Accra Central, the Minister assessed the extent of the damage and announced that arrangements are being made to provide temporary accommodation for all families displaced by the incident while plans are developed to reconstruct the affected barracks. He stated that victims will also receive financial assistance, clothing, and other relief items, with additional support expected from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). Muntaka praised the Inspector General of Police, the Police Management Board, and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service for their swift response in containing the blaze. He further assured residents that measures would be implemented to help prevent similar incidents in the future. The Interior Minister also visited a police officer who sustained injuries during the fire and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital. He expressed concern for the officer’s well-being, commended the medical team for their prompt intervention, and assured the injured officer of government’s support throughout his recovery.
